Home News & Events Heron Hill Nursing Home Career Memories Visit
Students and Staff were invited to visit Heron Hill Nursing home, in Kendal, to spend time with the residents and allow them to reminisce on their working careers. Students asked questions including ‘Did you wear a uniform’, ‘What qualifications did you need?’, ‘How long did you work in that role?’ etc.
They spoke with one resident who was a Soldier messenger in WW2 and another who was a Priest. There were so many interesting careers discussed.
It was a fantastic visit where the students gained knowledge of different careers and how they have changed throughout the years, including jobs which are no longer in existence.
Rob at Heron Hill said, ‘It was nice to see the students asking questions to the residents and listening to the answers given. After the session the residents said how much they had enjoyed helping give information about how they worked and their careers.’
