Home News & Events Winter Snack Shack for Age UK
During Q2’s life skills lessons this half term, the learners have been focussing on cooking skills. As they have been making some delicious snacks, the class thought it would be a good idea to sell the snacks to raise money for a charity. As a class they discussed about who we would like to help and what charity to raise money for. The young people came up with a great idea to help support the elderly who struggle to keep warm in the winter.
After exploring charities, the learners decided to raise the money for AGE UK. Each week the young people have worked hard to make lots of delicious treats, from mince pies to Christmas themed cookies. They have been busy selling the snacks after school, with the support from the staff and other young people around the school. We have raised a huge amount of £127!!
This is an amazing amount of money and we are going to use the money to go and buy some blankets, hot water bottles and more items to make some care packages to hand over to AGE UK.
Steve from AGE UK, Barrow come to Underley to raise more awareness of how the charity can support others and the different ways in which the charity provides for the elderly within their community. Steve presented the learners with a huge cheque, to show their appreciation for the money donated.
Thank you to all who supported us with this!
