Home News & Events Cyber Crime workshop with Cumbria Police
Lee Clark, a Cyber Crime Investigator from Cumbria police Cyber & Digital Crime Unit came to visit our learners to explore how to remain safe when using digital technology. He discussed the top tips for remaining safe online and worked with the learners, discussing how they can report things they see, which they find offensive.
Lee shared resources and scenarios which he asked the learners ‘what would you do?’ He explored the different laws, age restrictions on social media and video games and discussed the consequences of sharing too much information.
The students engaged in a discussion around internet safety, focusing around the dangers of the internet and how to be aware of who we may be talking to. They engaged well in the talk listening to what was being discussed and asking questions.
The learners really enjoyed Lee’s visit and throughout the rest of the week they continued to talk about it with staff, asking them questions and bringing up some of the information they had learnt from the Cyber talk.
Lee followed up with the following email, after his visit. ‘ Thank you for very much for your time today and allowing me to come in and speak to your students. I hope they all found it interesting and worthwhile. I know I did, it’s always interesting speaking to children of all ages. I felt they were very well behaved throughout and I enjoyed answering their questions.’
