Home News & Events World Book Day 2025
World book day is an event held across all schools to encourage reading and literacy. Students dressed up as their favourite character for the day.
We also held an extreme reading competition, which involved taking a picture of themselves reading in the most extreme place they could think of – on a zipline, walking the dog, playing a sport – as long as it was safe!
The learners really enjoyed sharing the stories of their chosen characters. As World Book Day was in the same week as Careers week, learners were tasked to read as many books as they could or listen to audio books or take part in sensory stories. They were asked to count how many job roles they found in each story. HT3 were the winners, reading 12 books between them!
Fantastic effort! A lovely, successful World Book Day at Underley Garden.
