Learners at Underley Garden came together to celebrate St George’s Day, a special occasion that honours England’s patron saint. The day provided a great opportunity for pupils to learn more about the history and traditions behind the celebration.
To begin, the children watched an engaging PowerPoint presentation that explained why St George’s Day is celebrated. They learned about the story of St George and the dragon, as well as how he became a symbol of courage and bravery. The presentation also explored how people across England mark the day, including flying the St George’s flag, taking part in parades, and enjoying traditional food and activities.
The pupils showed great interest and curiosity throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions and sharing what they already knew. It was wonderful to see everyone so enthusiastic about learning more about this important cultural event.
Overall, the celebration was both enjoyable and educational, helping to deepen the children’s understanding of English heritage and traditions.
