Home News & Events Remembrance Day 2025
To commemorate Remembrance day, Underley Garden students took part in various activities throughout the school. These included looking at what Remembrance Day means to the country and the commonwealth and why we continue to celebrate this, poppy making activities and baking poppy biscuits. Students also participated in poppy themed games that explained the importance of poppies, in the immersive room.
The whole school cohort and staff gathered outside Holly Trees building to collectively take part in a minutes silence at 11am. It was great to see the school come together to remember and honour those who have served and sacrificed in wars and conflicts.
Students accessed assemblies throughout their classes, to explore Armistice day and recognise the national, annual opportunity to remember the bravery of the armed forces and the vital role of emergency services, ensuring their sacrifices are not forgotten.
Our Student Council Representatives travelled to St Mary’s church in Kirkby Lonsdale to represent the school at the Remembrance service with members of the local community. They took part in a short service of Remembrance and prayer at the Cenotaph and laid our Underley Garden Wreath. We are so proud of the young people who showed respect by staying silent, joined in with the service and interacted with the community. They were thanked by the vicar for their participation.
Well done to all!
