Home News & Events Virtual experiences with our new VR Headsets
As a school we have been integrating our new VR headsets into our lessons to enhance and enrich our learning. One class have been looking at different types of rocks and exploring where these are located around the world (Australia, USA, Mexico), before discovering tunnels in a sandstone cave system. Another class have been using the headsets to explore Ancient Egypt – the tombs of the great Pharaohs, temples and artefacts that were associated with burials. Pupils have also been learning about Tutankhamun and his role in Egypt. Using the VR headsets has enabled pupils to picture the scale of the sites, the colours and textures of the items and connect with the world in which the Ancient Egyptians lived.
Some pupil feedback on using the headsets:
MM – I could move the rocks around and put them on tables and chairs. I liked the cave but I teleported somewhere random!
RL – I saw the big rocks and moved them around! I liked walking through the cave looking at the rocks!
LB – I liked moving around the cave, it was like a game. We were all looking at different things at the same time!
The VR Headsets are a welcomed addition to Underley Garden, inviting the learners to explore, play and really experience the topics they are learning about!
