Pupils from form Q5 have been to visit the Police Museum. They engaged with a talk about how the prison changed through time since the Victorian era. They learned that the prison has been in use from year 1166 until it closed in 2011. The learners explored the ways the prisoners were looked after during these years, what improvements have been made and why. They had a look around a cell, including a ‘condemned’ cell. This is where a condemned person would spend their last night.
After the talk the class went around the police museum looking at how policing has changed over the years, including how the local police have solved serious crimes in the area and what scientific processes were available to them at the time. They discussed the different job roles involved in helping to solve a crime.
The class made time to look at the memorial wall that celebrates the brave men and women that have served and lost their lives in the line of duty.
A great trip embedding English, History and Careers knowledge.
