Employability Skills workshop with the DWP
Margaret from Department of Working Pensions visited to run an Employability session around skills and qualities. Margaret
Our topic was ‘Down Memory Lane’. We looked at clothes from the past then AB Class organised a Fashion Show for Orchard young people.
The young people went shopping to Lancaster to purchase items of clothing as part of Life Skills. Then they redesigned and decorated them as part of their Creative Arts lessons to create their amazing outfits!
Each young person had a specific role to play for the Fashion Show. We had presenters who spoke on a microphone; models who strutted their stuff on the catwalk; marketing people who made posters and invites and ‘front of house’ people who greeted our audience and served them drinks and snacks. The young people had a great time taking part in this event. I’m sure the clothes they designed will feature in ‘London Fashion Week’ very soon!
