Home News & Events Purple Day – Epilepsy Awareness
To celebrate Purple day and raise awareness for Epilepsy, classes came together to look at this condition. We discussed epilepsy and explored how this affects our bodies.
We then thought about our peers and staff asked learners if they could think of anyone in school that might have epilepsy and how we would we know as It is not a visible condition.
We then watched a presentation and the young people engaged very well, it explained to us the different types of seizures and how we can administer first aid safely. The learners enjoyed demonstrating how to put each other in the recovery position.
We made crafts using the colour purple, everyone enjoyed using purple finger prints to create purple flowers, purple wool to make button flowers and we also did wool weaving. The young people had a great afternoon and gained importance awareness of a prominent neurological disorder.
