Key Stage 4 and 5 visit the Job Centre

On Tuesday 28th June members of Post 16 and KS4 went to Kendal Job Centre to find out about the services they could provide for the students upon their transition. We spoke to the manager of the job centre and we found out about the different job opportunities available for the students, when the different job fayres are and learnt this is where students would be able to speak to local employers about a range of opportunities. The students also that the job centre also provides support and information on work experience opportunities, apprenticeships, claiming benefits and writing CVs to name a few.

Lauren, one of the students, commented: “I couldn’t believe the range of services available to me, I really enjoyed the visit to the job centre as I thought it was  only for jobs available in Kendal. I didn’t realise I would be able to access their support when I leave Underley Garden School”.

This trip related to a range of cross curricular links including the student transition plans, the Gatsby Benchmarks, Life Skills, PSHE, Careers, CDI framework and English.
