Chinese New Year 2021

Throughout the last 12 months all our celebrations and activities have had to run slightly differently. When Chinese New Year comes round it is a way for our students to experience life from a different culture. We encourage our young people to try new foods by offering a full Chinese menu for lunch. Whilst during the week the students have engaged in a variety of activities from assemblies to the traditional giving and receiving of red envelopes. A firm favourite is the opportunity to have a Chinese snack in the middle of the day whilst listening to the traditional Chinese myth around the Jade Emperor and the creation of the Zodiac calendar. Other classes have listened to Chinese music, enjoyed sensory stories whilst exploring different textures. Our young people have also loved creating artwork and posters to display around the school that their fellow peers can see and enjoy. A fantastic, creative, fun filled week had by all.
